The pulsating voice of social outsiders at the 15th FKA
More highlights of the anniversary edition of Action Camera unveiled. Between October 24 and 27 on the festival screens, viewers will see the premiere of this year’s Berlinale hit “La Cocina” by Alonso Ruizpalacios or Adrian Panek’s long-awaited film ‘Simona Kossak’ – the story of an outsider and feminist. Recruitment is also underway for FKA’s flagship projects: the Authors Spotlight International Competition, the Critic Speaks Competition and the “Turn on Film” course for cultural animators. You can catch passes for the 15th edition of FKA at an attractive price only until August 16.
Moving and discussion-provoking titles are the hallmark of Action Camera. In October, the Critical Premieres section will knock audiences into their seats with “La Cocina.” Alonso Ruizpalacios’ film is a wild and energetic tale straight from New York’s Hell’s Kitchen. The backstory of the restaurant becomes an excuse for the director to address the rights-free reality of immigrants in the United States. Nominated for a Golden Bear, the film is a metaphor for contemporary America – full of inequality, frustration and social angst. “La Cocina,“ starring the phenomenal Rooney Mara (”Carol,” ‘The Girl with the Tattoo’), is based on the well-known stage play by Arnold Wesker, a tragicomic tribute to those who are often underestimated. The 15th FKA is also a strong voice for characters fighting for the right to live on their own terms. “Simona Kossak” is a cinematic journey into the world of an eccentric scientist who abandoned Krakow’s artistic community for a forest lodge in Bialowieza. Adrian Panek’s long-awaited film will be previewed as part of the Together Filmowi section. “Simona Kossak” is a brave feminist voice in the male-dominated world of science and an inspiring story about fighting for one’s ideals and protecting nature. In the title role, Sandra Drzymalska (“IO,” “Filip”) is a juror of the Authors Spotlight International Competition.
