What connects Greta Garbo and the Kamera Akcja Festival?
The anniversary edition of the Kamera Akcja Festival (October 24-27, 2024) will be unique in every way. This is proven not only by the program hits, but also by the unique visual identity designed by Arkadiusz Jaworek and the slogan of this year’s edition: turning points.
This year’s poster refers to the inevitable changes. In the center – a nostalgic portrait of Greta Garbo, an icon of classic cinema, a great eccentric combining extraordinary beauty, modern spirit and irresistible charm, and in the background – the contrasting name of the festival in yellow which is the trademark of Action Camera. The style is reminiscent of the eclectic, contemporary films that cinephiles love. When Greta Garbo first appeared in a sound film, it turned out that her flawless beauty was accompanied by a low, radio voice. This actress, is not only an icon of the Golden Era of Hollywood, but also a symbol of the merging of the past with the future and our ability to adapt to changes set by technological turning points, once the sonic breakthrough, today artificial intelligence. – this is what poster designer Arkadiusz Jaworek says about the concept. The anniversary visual identity reminds us of the great figures who marked turning points in cinematography and constantly inspire contemporary critics and filmmakers. – Malwina Czajka, director of FKA, adds.
The 15th Kamera Akcja Festival will be held from 24 to 27.10.2024 in Łódź and from 14 to 23.10.2024 online on the Think Film platform. The task is implemented thanks to a grant from the budget of the City of Łódź. Subsidized by funds from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage from the Cultural Promotion Fund, the Polish Film Institute and the University of Łódź – the festival’s patron. The main partners of the festival are Monopolis and the Film School in Lodz. The Kamera Akcja Festival and the Festiwal Człowiek Mediów w Zagrożeniu form the “Lodz Film Festival” cooperation network.
