Devotion is not always met with gratitude

Spain, several years after the end of the Civil War. In a small village, Ana struggles to keep her family together and heal the wounds the conflict has left on those closest to her. When her brother-in-law Antonio returns home, she takes care of him, cooking for him, tending to his needs and keeping painful family secrets buried. Everything changes with the arrival of Isabel, Antonio’s newlywed wife. Amid tension, unspoken emotions and mounting conflicts, Ana discovers that even the greatest sacrifice is not always met with gratitude.

In the media

«Subtlety is a virtue that contemporary cinema is clearly lacking, and The Good Manners certainly possesses it. The film also impresses with its beautiful cinematography and painterly staging, as well as its skilful use of natural light, reminiscent of “Barry Lyndon”.»
