Childhood ends where fear begins
Romania, 1989. The final days of Nicolae Ceaușescu’s dictatorship. In a small, isolated town, ten-year-old Maria is the last person to see her sister before she disappears. Devastated by the loss, she tries to make sense of a new and terrifying reality while confronting two nightmarish worlds: the one in which she feels lost, ignored and left to fend for herself, and the realm of dreams, where dark visions begin to take control of her life. Will she find the courage to grow up?
Mihai Mincan
Romanian director, screenwriter and writer. He made his feature debut with “To the North” (2022), which premiered at the Venice International Film Festival. His work often explores the lives of people on the margins of society, violence and situations of extreme vulnerability.
