— intro befor screening Ekrany: Film & Media
After a family tragedy, a mother, her daughter and the deceased girl’s boyfriend try to learn how to live with her absence.
Winner of the Un Certain Regard Award at Cannes, Sandra Wollner’s “Everytime” is a haunting and formally daring story about grief, memory and life after loss. One year after the tragedy, Ella and her daughter Melli try to return to everyday life, while Lux struggles with guilt. A journey to Tenerife becomes a confrontation with the past, as the boundaries between memory, imagination and reality begin to blur. An extraordinary meditation on memory, in which those we have lost can remain present long after they are gone.
In the media:
«Wollner thus reminds us that our memory is largely made up of recordings of memory.»
— Jakub Popielecki, Filmweb, read the full review
«The essence of cinematic poetry and a moving portrait of loss that leaves a lasting mark on the viewer.»
— Daria Sienkiewicz, Filmweb capsule review
«A meticulously controlled and considered portrait of grief, but also of growing up and childhood. Images saturated with emotions of different tones, with every scene reshaping the structure of the whole. At once a ghostly film and a narcotic trip. The most original film I’ve seen in years.»
— Michał Piepiórka, Filmweb capsule review
