Mariola Wiktor with a special award of the festival
The Camera Action Festival is an event where the reception of a film, the experience, the emotion of the screening comes first. FKA is based on two pillars: emphasizing the importance of film criticism and looking at the industry from a broad perspective. These two foundations lead to the need to highlight creative, art-sensitive and incredibly creative personalities that inspire festival attendees. For fifteen years, the organizers have emphasized that film is a network of communicating vessels, teamwork and cinephile passion. We want to honor this cinephile passion,” says Malwina Czajka, director of FKA, ”to draw attention to those who inspire us to discover and explore cinema. This year, a special award from the Kamera Akcja Festival – presented for the first time – will honor Mariola Wiktor, a film journalist and correspondent from many prestigious festivals around the world, including Venice, Cannes, Locarno, Karlovy Vary and Gdynia. Graduate of Polish philology and cultural studies at the University of Lodz. Since 2001 she has been a member of the International Federation of Film Critics, on behalf of which she sat on the jury of the FIPRESCI competition section of the 75th Cannes IFF. Her energetic involvement and excitement accompanying each successive screening is an attitude worth honoring,” adds Malwina Czajka, festival director. With the Special Awards we want to recognize courage, temperament and perseverance in their passions. And these are qualities that are certainly prevalent when we think of Mariola Wiktor,” echoes Przemek Glajzner, festival director.
