Authors Spotlight Competition

All lights on for short films
The organizers of the Kamera Akcja Festival would like to remind you that the call for entries for Authors Spotlight – a competition of live action and animation short films from around the world – is now open. A year ago, there were as many as 226 productions in the close preselection, characterized by poignant stories, intriguing observation of everyday life, bold voice and form of storytelling. Although the competition is focused on auteur cinema, the festival proves every year that behind the artistic success of each production there is not only the director_ but many members of the production team, which is why Authors Spotlight strongly emphasizes the collective dimension of the filmmaking process. During last year’s competition, audiences were able to see such productions as “Our Uniform” by Yegane Moghaddama – nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Film, as well as “A Kind of Testament” by Stephen Vuillemin, which was shortlisted for the 2024 Academy Awards. This year, young critics and film scholars will again face an extremely difficult choice of the best of the best.
The Young Jury will include the winners of the Film and Social Communication Knowledge Olympiad: Antonina Zwolinska, Bartosz Ciechanowicz and Zosia Zylka.
In the main Jury of the Authors Spotlight competition: Sandra Drzymalska! A graduate of the Academy of Theater Arts in Krakow, whose fame came with her role in Jerzy Skolimowski’s Oscar-nominated film, “IO” (2022) and her performance alongside Filip Plawiak in Marcin Koszalka’s “White Courage.”
